CONSTELLATION

A Global Memorial Initiative to October 7th

Eternal Star is a series of monumental memorials proposed for leading cities across the United States and abroad, created to honor and preserve the memory of the October 7, 2023 tragedy and its enduring human impact. Conceived in the aftermath of the attacks and rooted in the work of the late Jewish artist Vadim Grinberg, the initiative envisions a constellation of memorial sites united through shared form, symbolism, and purpose.

Each memorial is intended to serve as a permanent place of mourning, remembrance, reflection, and renewal - honoring the lives taken, those held hostage, and all those forever impacted by the events of October 7th. Together, the memorials stand as a visible and enduring commitment to Jewish memory, resilience, continuity, and the preservation of historical truth for future generations.

ETERNAL STAR

sculpture

At the center of each memorial stands the Eternal Star - a kinetic abstract sculpture rooted in the work of the late Jewish artist Vadim Grinberg. Through continuous movement and shifting perspective, the sculpture interacts with light, atmosphere, and human presence, creating an experience that is never fixed and continually evolving.

At certain moments, the geometric composition resolves into the form of the Star of David before dissolving once again into abstraction. This cyclical emergence reflects the history of the Jewish people across generations - repeatedly displaced, threatened, and fragmented, yet continually reemerging with resilience, continuity, and enduring identity.

Within this framework, the events of October 7th are understood not as an isolated tragedy, but as part of a far longer historical arc of struggle, survival, and renewal. The Eternal Star stands both as a memorial to the lives taken and as a lasting affirmation of Jewish memory, endurance, and continuity across time.

MEMORIAL SITES

Memory & Public Space

Eternal Star brings together sculpture, architecture, landscape, and public space into a unified memorial experience. At the center of each site stands the Eternal Star sculpture, serving as the symbolic and visual core of the memorial. Around it, each environment is uniquely designed in response to its specific location - reflecting the character, history, landscape, and community of the city in which it is placed.

The memorials operate simultaneously at two scales: as civic landmarks visible within the broader urban landscape, and as intimate spaces for personal reflection, mourning, and encounter. While united by a shared symbolic language and purpose, no two sites are identical; each is shaped through close material, architectural, and spatial study to create a memorial experience deeply connected to the place and people it serves.

ARTIST

Grinberg's practice moved between disciplines without settling into any one of them. Sculptor, painter, designer, poet: the categories overlapped deliberately, each informing the others.

Today, his estate is managed by his daughter, Julia Brown and Vadeli Arts, that steward his body of work and make it accessible to collectors, curators, and institutions worldwide.
